Dry Skin on Face

There are many reasons that you may be dealing with dry skin on your face. Anything from too much sun, too much make-up or harsh soaps, windburn, certain medications or poor nutrition can give your face a dry, wrinkly feel and look.Dryness is the result of a lack of moisture. The easiest remedy for that is to rehydrate from the inside out by drinking lots of water. If you’re making sure to get adequate amounts of water during the day, especially if you’re living in a place where there is very hot or very cold weather, this may clear up your problem on its own. But you may need some extra help.

Vitamin E has been proven to give a noticeable glow to the skin, so try eating foods that are high in vitamin E such as seeds, nuts, spinach, tomatoes, carrots, broccoli, bell peppers, pumpkins, beets, turnips, fish, mangoes and papayas. These whole, nutritious foods may help you with your dry skin problem, and vitamin E capsules can work wonders externally. You can simply break the capsules open and smooth the cream on your face or look for gentle skin creams or lotions that have a high vitamin E content.Remember to apply any creams of lotions to your face while its still a bit wet to lock the moisture in. But don’t use water that’s too hot, otherwise it will have the reverse effect. Lukewarm water is best.

Some oils that are nice and moisturizing, as well as light, gentle and safe for your skin include coconut oil, shea butter and olive oil.Raw honey and fresh egg yolks can be mixed together to make a nice, nourishing application for your face, left on for 10 minutes or so.
Omega 3 has is wonderful for your skin, as well. Omega 3′s are essential fatty acids, essential because they must be acquired from your diet.Your body cannot make Omega 3 fatty acids on its own. These fatty acids are vital to the health of every cell in your body. They fight free radicals which can damage the skin, cause wrinkles, and lead to the breakdown of the collagen which you need to preserve a healthy glow.Omega 3 fatty acids are best absorbed through cold water fish like salmon, herring, sardines, or tuna. It can also be found in grass fed beef, evening primrose oil, some nuts, kiwifruit and eggs from chickens that are fed an Omega 3 rich diet.Harsh soaps can dry your face out, as can chemical-laden makeup. Try to use only natural soaps and makeup.

Mineral makeup is a great choice as it’s very gentle on your skin and typically doesn’t contain any of the chemicals, dyes or preservatives found in most makeups. Soaps made with milk are especially good for sensitive skin, too.You may want to consider purchasing a humidifier. The moisture that it will put into the air is great for your skin, especially if you live in a place with a very dry climate. It may be especially helpful to sleep with a humidifier in the winter. Dry skin is a sure sign of unhealthy skin, so it’s best to clear up the problem as soon as you can.
